Accessibility Statement

Introduction

The East Africa Press Councils (EAPC) is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and, in doing so, adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

Web Accessibility

To ensure the utmost inclusivity:

1. Standards: This website endeavors to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user-friendly for all people.

2. Alternative Text: All images will be given appropriate alternative text unless they are purely decorative, in which case they will have null alt text.

3. Resizable Text: Text can be resized without assistive technology up to 200 percent without loss of content or functionality.

4. Keyboard Access: All site functionality is available using a keyboard.

5. Contrast Ratio: We have ensured that all text on the site meets a contrast ratio requirement to ensure readability. We have additionally included an accessibility plugin to allow users to change the contrast ratio of text.

6. Navigability: We’ve provided more than one way to locate a webpage within our site, including through a sitemap, search function, and intuitive menu navigation.

Assistive Technologies: We recommend using the most current versions of computer-based assistive technology applications and web browsers. There are easy-to-use controls integrated into our website to adjust its size and contrast, catering to individual needs.
